Bunburyodo; beyond the classroom

While there are different definitions for bunburyodo (mastering literary arts
& military arts, or more simply studying and exercising), most mean to
maintain a balance. It is an important theme in the schools and universities
here.

But how can we go beyond it? Well, I like to talk to students in the lunchroom,
then in between classes, and then again talk to different students in the
dojo and weight room. Students are then more relaxed, they feel more at ease
about making mistakes with their English, and I learn more about them in
Japanese, plus I can offer homework or even workout advise.

When working where the staff think education is important, where they are always
studying to improve themselves, the students also seem to feel motivated.
